You’re always welcome at Shippies
The Shipwright’s Arms Hotel — Shippies’ to the locals — was established in 1846. Situated in the heart of historic Battery Point, it has a unique collection of Tasmanian and maritime memorabilia. The English-style bar (built by a shipwright) features Tasmanian timbers — and log fires keep it cosy in winter.
As well as the most popular bistro in town, we offer comfortable and reasonably priced accommodation — and we’re only a short stroll from bustling Salamanca Place and the Hobart waterfront.

Hi there
Every time we visit Hobart, we make a point of enjoying a meal at The Shipwright’s Arms. We love the atmosphere of the place. Our absolute favourite dish is your seafood chowder and the crusty cob…. simply divine.
We cannot wait to visit you all again!
Cheers for now.
